We are relaxing in Loo. Why doesn't my mother's lover protect her from the advances of his friends?

We’ve been vacationing in Loo for a week now. Me, mom, neighbor (her lover), and two of his friends. They always revolve around mom, and then I at sea they send one of them with them, either to play cards in the next room or to go for a walk. I hardly see my mother anymore. They constantly look after their mother. If the neighbor is her lover, why does he allow his friends to court her??? They probably want sex with her too
