From Victory, from this Victory
There is an unswallowed lump in my throat;
Grandfather swans are circling in the sky,
We wave to them the cherished flag;

We squeeze worn-out photos,
We don’t close our enthusiastic eyes;
In these photographs we see someone
Who is more complete and more intelligent than us...

Squeezing these photos in the palm of your hand,
We fly, barely feathered;
We grow from the ninth of May,
Like forest grass from the soil;

And, guarding the hero in our souls,
We grow into a new life,
As from faith in something holy,
Which we cannot do without.

On the street, bathed in the May sun,
Closing my eyes, I hear the ringing of the medal.
Joyfully celebrating the Victory holiday
It surrounded me on all sides that day.
It was flowing down the street an avalanche of people -
Front-line soldiers of that distant war.
For a long time their hair was adorned with gray hair,
But they kept the fighting formation.
Medal “For the Defense of Leningrad”
It was knocking on the medal for Budapest,
Awards for the defense of Stalingrad,
Moscow, for Prague, Vienna, Koenigsberg.
And it was knocking “For the capture of Berlin”
On the side “For Courage” on the chest,
The heroes walked, giant people walked,
The ringing of medals sounded all the way.
And filling the street with this ringing,
They walked with honor and the courage of the country.
I remember the medal ringing on the street
Our lives were saved by it.
